    ballistics in action?

I was wondering if semi realistic ballistics, (thinking only with larger machineguns, MG42,50.cal etc) i know cysis supports tracers but they are a bit rubish and seem very random (the rounds seem to land up, down, left, right). The realistic falling of the rounds would be on at large distances so the small arms close quarters would not be effected.

Was thinking this would be nice to see over large open fields in normandy.

About 8min 30secs there is some good ones.

    * I'm not entirely sure about how the tracer is handled, but they built gravity in when they set up the ammunition objects. By default, it's set at 1 or 0, which...doesn't really affect them at all. Putting it up to 8.9 (standard earth gravity, brought down to 1 decimal place) isn't really noticeable until you get to relatively extreme distances. As for wind, I'm not sure if there's anything in place already, but personally I'd like to give it a shot. If for nothing else than just to play around with it myself.

Weapon balistics is something we want to look into - how noticable the effects would be at the distances we would be working in is another matter. However I want to at least make tracer appear realistic even if it is infact completely wrong for gameplay purposes.

We have been experimenting with ballistics a bit.
For each bullet the gravity and friction can be changed.
It's very noticable when you enter high friction: we were able to let a tankshell drop on the ground 5 meters after it left the barrel

Heh, I got the SCAR to shoot myself in the feet. Except that you can't shoot yourself, so it didn't damage me.

    Me? lol

I wasn't aware of the fiction parameter (although to be fair I've spend about 2 minutes looking at that sort of thing) so cheers for the info.
