    Different Gametype for each map

Im sorry if this idea has been posted before, but had a quick skim and didnt find anything.

Basicly my idea is to have instead of 4 or 5 gametype's, have a different gametype for each map.
This way we could make the gametypes more suited to the map and the maps would play out better, however it would also decide which maps are the favourites alot quicker.

Thats a LOT of extra work - gamemode design is complex and time consuming so to begin with they'll only be one. Its also easier to play if all maps use the same mode - now the question is what should that mode contain

I wouldnt mind several different game types for each map, granted it makes historical sense and fits in with the map, but yea, we need to hammer out one solid one first.

if it was different for every map a lot of people wouoldnt know what to do, since many don't read mission briefings or things like that.

Remember that you can do lots of different things with the same basic game mode. You can have events triggered in the map that aren't strictly part of the game mode, but could effect gameplay quite radically. I don't know specifically what kind of "different modes" you were thinking of, but it would be quite possible to position the objectives in your standard game mode such that certain goals had to be fulfilled before each objective was reached; for instance you could position an objective behind a destructible scenery, or along a certain piece of terrain which forced the players to do something specific to this mission. All this can be achieved without actually changing the game mode as such.

Re: Different Gametype for each map

I like the idea, only if you want minor changes in each map. My Halo mind sees things very differently, but modifying weapon damage per map to balance each MAP as opposed to the entire game, is a crazy idea.

Basically, in Halo 3 team slayer, you get an AR and a pistol. There is also gametype: "Team BRs" where you get a BR and an AR. Well in this gametype it might be an interesting idea to "nerf" the BR to make the game more interesting. [This would be awesome [or at least entertaining] for Construct, where it is nearly impossible to get into an advantageous situation with a skilled opponent with a BR.]

Strange thought on that type of idea... Balancing weapons, less on realism, more on practical gameplay. To me, that is why Halo succeded, they can change their damage weekly and no one thinks: "Well my rifle in his head should have killed him!"

Sorry for the long posts from me today.

How we're doing weapon damage is we're doing them realistically first then during beta testing we will alter them from that position to make the gameplay better. We also plan to do regular patches to update and improve the balancing of weapons etc... that is as well as the major chapter updates.
