So; how about fuel limits for aircraft? Mostly the biplanes, but small airships could have it too.

I limiting fuel is a good idea - perhaps 3 minutes air time? After that they would have to land and taxi to a refueling station. 10 seconds later they're ready to fly again. I think we should also should limit ammunition. So a good player will have to re-arm as well as re-fuel (it could be the same place to ammo and fuel). If your just a normal pilot then you'll get shot down long before you run out of ammo/fuel. I imagine it should be arranged so after two/three dog fights your going to want to re-arm/fuel. But you'll still have enough for a small dog-fight and the flight home.
Agreed. Maybe a "weapon" for engineer of support could be a fuel can incase someone didn't make it back. Spawn times for vehicles would have to be increased thoough to make it worth while to send someone out to refuel it.
Would a tutorial be included? I know I still can't land the fighters in BF2....but for airships certainly, easy to land even without fuel. Good idea.
Furthermore; I wish to dismiss the preposterous notion that a machine heavier than air could fly under its own power.
I was thinking we could use the Crysis Singleplayer mode as a tutorial. We could code it so people code select which tutorial/practice they want to do once ingame.
That's a brilliant idea.
Will there be bots? (I pretty much only play offline...download limits* >).
Anyway like that fuel idea. Adds realism, and means that pilots have to be skilled.

They don't have to be skilled, quite the opposite. It's handicapping the skilled pilots by making them refuel and rearm, less experienced pilots won't last so long and so won't be effected it.
It also prevents winners of dog fights camping the spawn of the opposite team so as soon as the aircraft is occupied they can destroy it while on the ground.
(See new topic for Tutorial/Singleplayer)
On larger maps you could put extra fuel tanks on. It could just be there for looks or you could make it destructable (therefore decreasing the planes range until it landed or was repaired), we could have a nice explosion there if a shot hit it*.

External fuel tanks is an option. You could make them explode and catch fire if shot at. You might also be able to make it so you can drop the external fuel tanks just before you enter combat (as they do in reality).
This idea would take *very* heavy play testing. VERY. But still, I kinda like it.
Word, homedog.
