    Boarding vehicle

We're not really at the stage of creating too many vehicles yet, nor at the stage of doing any really intense city fighting, but this thought occurred, and if I don't post it I'll forget:

Large(ish) land vehicles used by the green storm to attack the lower levels of cities and get inside the engine rooms. Like a dumper-truck (for those of you who've played Farcry, picture the lorry thing in that) with a MASSIVE ramp on the back, up which infantry can climb (but of course they can also come *down*). Not a wide ramp; a modern equivalent of a siege tower. Just high enough to reach the lowest levels, as a means of boarding cities other than by air.

These trucks should also be able to carry 6-8 men in the back. They'd be open-topped (the ramp over the top would provide some cover from the tractionists shooting down at them) and then men would have to climb out and walk round the back before they could use the ramp. Their open topped nature would provide a good opportunity for the Tractionists to repel boarders - a few machine gunners might be able to take out all the men in the truck before it reaches the city, so that when it gets there, nobody's left to use it.

well i havnt read the books, but i think that sounds like a good idea to me, maybe use the ejection pods from the APCs and replace them with baloons for one person to use to board?

    Re: Boarding vehicle

Well, with these boarding vehicles I was going for an *alternative* to flying-based boarding, so as to avoid some of the anti-air defences, and divide enemy forces

sounds good though, attack from above and below, and I'm guessing that this Ramp would be long enogh to reach up and board the lowest deck?

Yer the main assaults on the cities would come from the underbelly, or by airbourne assault divisions. I like the idea of a siege tower, although I think we may have to be careful in the design of it.

    Re: Boarding vehicle

I was just thinking a big truck, but with a massive ramp attached on the back Simple, yet effective. They could make it from vehicles and parts that are at hand.
