? l? BF2: Special Forces. Not alot to discuss - you throw it up a building, you climb up. Yes or no? (I'm thinking for the Green Storm saboteurs)

yes def, you need more poll options though
sounds like a most awesome idea man.
We'll have to be quite careful with map geometry if we incorporate a grappling hook.* Every horizontal flat surface would become a potential sniping point if it was included, and you know how Naga hates snipers.* That sort of unlock should either be a Scout/Sabatouer class unlock, or a universal one, probably the latter.
It should also do a reasonable amount of damage, and stick in bodies, as a humiliation kill.* That would mean you could drag around bodies on a rope, potentially hanging them from buildings.
@ES: The last half of that might not be possible...
WRT sniping surfaces - not too much of a problem. In bf, soldiers can't stand on just *anything*, and additionally alot of the details (such us vents and stuff) aren't actually detailed into the model (you can go straight through them). Although this looks a bit funny when you do, it means things aren't too much of a problem...
I'd suggest they be given to both special forces and snipers - though remember there isn't a proper "sniper" class in TW; saboteurs and scouts... Neither of which have hugely effective long-range weapons.

that be true sir that be true... many a time I have tried to camp on a vertical wall only to fall to my death ^^
We can easy get around the sniper problem by not giving them to snipers, and make them "pickup-able" so you can pick up your grapple and reuse it - or stop others following.
If someone wants to work with a sniper and put a grapple onto a building for them to use then theve earnt their kills. Teamwork should be encouraged.
Actually, sniping is a *great* use of grapple hook. I would want it to be given to the sniper classes, although remember we don't actually *have* a "sniper rifle" at the moment. A crossbow - not great for sniping - and perhaps a sniper rifle for GS later... But that'll probably be an unlock of sorts...

That would be ok, if the kit was limited, there is one very good reason for this. We dont have to design maps in such a* way that everyone doesn't choose the sniper kit. Trench warfare would become hopeless, everyone would just snipe, no-one would bother trying to dash accross no-mans land because they wouldnt move 5 metres before they were brought down by 3 snipers at once.![]()
But that's brilliant! You'd have to organise a massive dash, and there would be great, long-lasting standstills on certain areas of the map. That's what I loved most about Wake Island (2007)...
That said, being sniped can be extremely frustrating - but it's OK because as I say, the presence of sniper rifles will be a little limited (whether by unlocks or by the drop-kit system)...
