I know it`s probably posted or available somewhere,but I`m feeling a little idle.lol...
What`s the average or normal poly count that`s acceptable for say a building or tree in crysis?....Answers on a post -card please...Just kidding......
Really I`ve a few models I`ve made for another "low-poly" game and was wondering what exactly the limits are....Thanks in advance.
Trees: 500 – 2,500 Tris (dependent on number of trees – high poly trees cannot be used in dense forest)
For buildings, its very random. The idea is to keep a clean mesh, with good topology - doing that your building shouldn't exceed 2,000-4,000 tris. Maybe even less, but once again, it drastically depends on the building and or general static object.
And hand weapons, a lot of people keep them around 6,000 tris, but I push it a bit, and set my limit for around 9,000. Of course, a simplistic hand weapon does not need that, but.. a rifle or such often times needs around 7,000 tris or so.
But once again, some mods normally will push it a little bit. Traction Wars does in some cases, mostly for hand weapons though.
I`ve seen the odd tree creation on the crysis forums. No idea of their poly-count.How does this look for 820 polys.
I was thinking along the lines of a bomb damaged/decimated leafless tree of some wwII battleground.Probably way off the mark, but what the hell.lol...It`s all good practice eh?
It`s mapped to a square 512 x 512 texture,so any other of the same ratio will fit it fine.
