Thread: Far Cry 2

Has anyone played Far Cry 2?
I've been playing it since Chirstmas, and quite liked it...at first. Nice weapon selection and fire. The A.I....less so. I've also been finding the dark environments rather irritating. What do you think of it?

I can't say I have to be honest. Although I've heard only good reports of it (apart from Crysis vs. FarCry2 Threads - that's different though )

Played the first level or so... was very slow, the graphics werent as good as crysis and I really didnt like the gameplay, although I've never been a fan of sandbox type games, editor was good I heard though.

Good game, graphics are still fantastic, shame that the environment is less destructible than crysis and that the storyline is extremely boring. Overall it makes for a good laugh sometimes... My favourite loadout being the pistol grenade launcher, the rotary grenade launcher and the RPG. Who needs close range weapons?

I enjoyed FC2. It got pretty repetetive after a while, but at least it was nice to look at and had some cool features.

The ending of the story was kind of a let-down TBH, but it was still fun to play through it all.

I didnt think the graphics were that bad compared to Crysis. Isnt it just a heavily modified version of the cryengine?

Yep - Its just a modified CryEngine1. Dunia is never going to compete once CryEngine3 comes out though

dont expect much mate with the cryengine 3, its for consoles. I think there making it for the new xbox and ps4. As the 360 and ps3 cant handle crysis with the CE2, and it says the CE3 has improved graphics.

If they do make this just based for console, i hope they got another engine based for the pc only, as most games built for console and then ported over to the pc are horrid. Like i got gta5 the port over was horrid, bad fps, i was getting like 15-20, and on crysis i get a good 60+. The same with guitar hero for the pc, good god that was bad* no joke i got 10fps lol

LOL - apparently they're designing it for consoles and PCs.... personally I hate consoles for stealing Cryteks valuable time away from the PC!

Amen to that!!

Mixed feelings with this news.
I understand the business model, but fact remains that valuable resources are put into developing structures for consoles.
Resources which should be directed towards pc-development*
Our pc is where it all starts and where most creativity can be found.

Let's see how this turns out.
