You'll all be glad to know that the time I've saved by *not* coding for you guys has been put to use:
Video Game Downloads
It's about a 30meg download - which might seem pretty unreasonable for a retro arcade game. More unreasonable is the amount of space it will take on your hard drive; it's because the engine is written in python, which means no handy little exe file, instead it has to install the whole python back end, along with the script for the game. Not cool, but makes things pretty easy for me, so suck it
Anyway, if you fancy giving it a whirl, go aheadI'd be much obliged for any comments that aren't "This is ****, you've wasted at least 13 hours of your LIFE!" or "You want how much hard drive space? This is obscene! There's only one model and a handful of textures!"
ps. If you hadn't guessed from the URL, it's a rather updated (fiddled with) version of Asteroid. It really started out as an exercise in me learning the language/the engine. And let me tell you, python is the best language EVER. No exceptions. Sucks to be you guys using LUA.
Hope someone enjoys it. Oh, and for those of you to whom this will mean anything, the rather haunting soundtrack(s) w(ere)as written by Angus. (I needed something it was legal for me to distribute). Enjoy.
EDIT:: Find the controls in the license agreement (displayed at install time, also under <gamepath>\game\license.txt - gamepath normally being C:\EpicAsteroids)
