    A brief introduction to Raptor Survival

    http://static.scribd.com/docs/f5vyfmsau05s5.swf

    The linked guide should to educate you about the risks of raptor attack. It was prepared by the International Raptor Defence Alliance (IRDA) and the United Raptor Widows Fund.

    All I have to say is this. Raptors know no fear.

    A simple puzzle for you:

    * * * * * * * * * * * * R

    * * * * * * * * * * * * o
    * * * * * * * * R* * * * * * R.

    The above diagram represents YOU, surrounded by three raptors (as is their preferred hunting technique) forming an equilateral triangle with you at the center. Healthy raptors (with the normal running speed of 10m/s) are represented by "R", but raptor "R." has a damaged leg and can only run at 8m/s. You can run at a meagre 5m/s. In which direction should you run in order to maximise your lifetime? And what will be your maximum life, given that one side of the triangle (line RR or RR.) is 20m ?

    Remember, this is the most important kind of maths you will EVER do.

    Re: A brief introduction to Raptor Survival

    I must say, your scenario is flawed in a number of ways.

    1)* Raptors are highly intelligent creatures.* To suggest that one could be hurt is blatantly a lie; they survived a giant rock hitting the planet (technically the mothership of an alien invasion, which they had boarded and destroyed through shear coolness, but that is irrelevant), which is more than humanity has managed.

    2)* You?* Surrounded by Raptors?* Another problem; one would simply have killed you outright, without having to surround a human.* They killed dinosaurs; do you really think some hairy monkey is a problem?

    3)* Even if we assume 2) to be ignored, Raptors are very clever.* Therefore, your maximum survival time is 0 s, because the Raptor hiding in the nearby tree (as so was invisible in the 2-D diagram) just jumps and you and shares you with its pack.* Game over, man, game over!

    Please:* that was just pitiful human propaganda, designed to blaspheme against the purity of the Raptor race.* After all, it had several T-rexes in it, and everyone knows that the Raptors have nearly hunted their nemisi to extinction, so they couldn't appear in those numbers.

    God rest his soul. Sadly, after his adventures he suffered a strange form of amnesia, then became a hermit and went mad.

    ES: Raptors *ALWAYS* surround their victim in an equilateral triangle before assault; it's not because they *have* do, rather because they *can*... You'll notice from the diagram in the text that the Evil centre of the raptor brain is large (larger than a small ferret) and as such they like to take time to enjoy their hunt.

    hmm, it depends how long a raptor can hold that 10m/s doesnt it? because there a humans that run faster than 10m/s for a distance of 100m
