Do you have to pay for the creature creator because I was looking on the EA website and it was apparently $10

You can download the demo, with only 20% of the content for free (which is what I did), or you can buy the creature creator, and when you buy Spore proper (comes out september time), you get a discount to the value of CC. So you end up no worse off, just they get your money sooner rather than later.
