    Big PC screen

    Hey!

So at some point, aside from getting a new PC, I really want a huge monitor. My current screen is 20 inch Dell, and is quite nice. Any suggestions?

Is it best to just get a huge monitor, or a flat TV screen and use that for a monitor? And furthermore, is it even possibly/advised/enjoyable to use a flat screen TV as a monitor?

So yea, just looking for some good brands of PC monitors that supply large screen ones.

This is easy. Either get a samsung sync master TV 24"+ or a Sony Bravia 24"+
Both are TVs with DVI and HDMI ports on the back, they are also fantastic TVs and incidentally look great.

I have both and haven't regretted getting either

How far away will you be sitting away from your monitor/TV? Unless your talking halfway across the room you really need a monitor rather than a TV as in my experience the difference between a HD TV and HD monitor is unbelievable. As I imagine you'll mostly be doing artwork a TV probably not going to be the best choice. Dell IPS monitors are the best out there at the moment - I've got a Dell 23" IPS which is fantastic. So good in fact I'm having to resist the urge to buy another two so I have a matching set IPS is pricey but gives the best image - not quite as fast as TFT but the image quality is much better. So for artwork I'd have thought that would be the way to go.

Yeah I'll be using it for artwork - that was my main concern between TV and a PC monitor. I guess in this instance it may be best to go with the IPS or such Although quite expensive

    Thanks guys.

The one I have now costs around £160 in the right places so they're not that expensive really.

About 3 years ago I got a 24 inch from Acer for 550CAD$, and at our office from back then, I was working on 2 Dell monitors @24inches. I like working at a 1920x1200 resolution. Asus and Samsung have nice screens from what I heard.

Looks pretty nice, very fast response time which is great for gaming. Also, once you find a model you like, I suggest looking for reviews around the web for more in-depth info.

    Re: Big PC screen

Definitely look for reviews - it took me weeks to pick my Dell U2311H.

Apparently there are only 1/2 IPS factories in the world so all the manufacturers get them from the same place. The interesting bit is from what I read they divide them between manufacturers based on the quality of each unit as there are often dead pixels or slight imperfections in the screen. The expensive brands buy the more expensive better quality units whereas the budget brands buy the cheaper seconds.

The other thing I found is the prices shoot up after 24" - hence having a 23"
