I want to upgrade my DDR2 majorly from 4GB 400MHz 5-5-5-5 @ 1.80V to 8GB of very fast RAM. DDR3 is better I know but I'm not yet ready to upgrade my motherboard and CPU so I'm playing with the idea of a major RAM upgrade to buy me 18+ months of decent running.
Mind you that RAM isn't a major performance-booster for itself, other than the fact it being the most difficult part to upgrade as it got a bigger chance of hardware conflicts; between excisting hardware and new hardware.
Of the above options, your beste bet would be option nr. 1, as the voltage is the same as your current ones. Setting (locking) the RAM's speed and latency would greatly increase the stability of your system.
Thanks for the advice Maniche I think I'll spend the money somewhere else after thinking about it - might try and track down some of my old RAM so I can double my capacity cheaply.
Any suggestions about how to some to match anyone? I'm not really sure which stats are the ones that have to match!
