    Hard drive Recommendations

I'm looking at buying a new internal hard drive to supplement my current one which is down to it's last 100 GB now. I'm looking for something with high capacity & good read speeds but also at a good price (<£50). My priorities are price and speed rather than capacity.

Does anyone have any recommendations for manufacturer or model?

I haven't really considered solid state as an alternative as I don't know what the performance advantage is if the OS remains on a standard drive.

    Cheers

Well, I've always sticked with Seagate and it's Barracuda series (got Barracuda 10, 11 and 12 now; 3 HDDs, all different versions), which was around a few hundred bucks here. Never experienced any bad readings, noise and/or sudden crash and lose of data! Add the nice price and you got plenty of GBs to take up; at the time being, my Barracuda 11 went around 0.78kr pr. GB, so it was quite cheap (a Western Digital VelociRaptor were around 7.28kr pr. GB)!
