Okay, sorry if this sounds terribly uninformed [i]but[i] I've read on this forum references to both a BF2142 and a Crysis version of the mod, I was wondering if the BF2142 version was finished and if so where can I download it? Thanks!

Furthermore; I wish to dismiss the preposterous notion that a machine heavier than air could fly under its own power.
Whilst the bf2142 version was making good progress, the team felt that it would be prudent to shift to the crysis engine (having kept all the artwork etc in standard formats) because of various engine advantages, and crucially the better mod support offered by crytek (Dice never actually delivered an editor or mod toolkit for battlefield 2142; the team were having to make do with the bf2 editor, which was a bit of a hack really).
So the bf2142 references you find will be from before the switch was made, whereas the crysis ones are from after itWe only got to fairly early alpha testing on bf2142 before crysis came out, and were so impressed by how much better the support was that the 2142 version was shelved. (someone'll correct me if I'm wrong here; I left the development team around that time due to other commitments)
Hope that helps![]()
Word, homedog.
Yep that's just about it. Good answer![]()
Right, Thanks.*![]()

As much as I enjoy both games... I enjoy Crysis and its engine more than BF2142. For one thing, I love the fact that you can sculpt and paint a level any way you want in Sandbox 2 with much more versatility than others; just as you would a clay model. Very few systems offer this and for me, personally, it is by far the best feature of the engine.
2142 is much beter than crysis
well now there wasn't talk about the gameplay, but the engine running the games and looking at that there is no doubt that
cryengine beats bf2142 by a long shot
not to mention crysis is more a demonstration of what can be done with CryEngine comphared to being a game - I never actully have played bf2142, but if it is just somewhat similar to bf2 then I'd deffently agree on bf2142 being a better game than crysis
oh and this thread is already over a year old ^^'

I think it depends on your perspective. Singleplayer in BF2142 is practically non-existing compared to the advanced Crysis singleplayer. Multiplayer on the other hand... well we all know which wins that one![]()
Personally I think its apples and oranges, and they cannot be compared. Not because one is better, but because neither is better, because the only thing they have in common is both being an FPS. However, both are FPS's with drastic differences in timeframe etc.
On a side note I never liked 2142, Bf2 all the wayOh and of course the classic Bf1942.
I liked both for different reasons. BF2142 was a nightmare to mod as the mod tools were never released and modified BF2 ones had to be used. BF2142 was the natural progression in Battlefield MP and the last of the "old-Battlefield". It was buggy for sure but Titan mode was a really nice original gameplay with some fantastic close-combat defence/offence![]()
