How realistic is it going to be?
For WW2 games with Battlefield at one end and RnL at t'other where is this going to fall? I haven't even bought Crysis yet, and this could sway it
Another thing that bugs me:
In WW2 German tactics had very little to do with SMGs and Assault Rifles. It was almost all K98s supporting the MG42 amongst rank and file infantry. Only small groups of 'elites' had MP44s and Officers (NCOs?) with SMGs. It adds alot of teamwork to playing as the Whermacht.
I can't really talk for Britain as assuredly but the Lee Enfield was the stock weapon. I hate when WW2 games spam S/MGs.
thanks.
You can be assured that as long as I am a researcher for this mod, there will be no COD/MOH **** in this mod.
German squad tactics first became based around the MG in WW1, and were fully brought into being during WW2. The squad was just a large MG team, riflemen were simply ammo carriers for the MG, their rifle meant to defend the MG when it was reloading or changing position.
As for your comment on 'elites' and officers, that's wrong. SMGs were carried one per squad by the squad leader (nominally an Unteroffizer or Unterfeldwebel), however they could be issued out are a larger rate to assualt squads and units like the Panzergrenaidier and Fallschirmjager. Officers carried MP40s usually in field as well, but its unknown right now if we'll do officers, since that's a company and above thing, not exactly a common kit for a mod like this. As for the STG-44, that was issued out once again to assualt units like the Panzergrenaidier, however for Normandy, they were rather rare. By late 1944 though, they were more and more common, and were meant to be issued to any soldier, not just officers and NCOs. They actually became rather common in the Volksgrenaidier units, as a way of bolstering their firepower and morale.
As for the british, the Lee Enfield is well known to be the main weapon. Like I've said, as long as I am here doing my stuff, this mod will get its weapons, and everything else, right.
