Few questions (apologies if this is the wrong section)
Hi guys,
First of all, may I say this mod looks like it is shaping up to be outstanding. Kudos to the team.
Moving on, I was just wondering if someone could answer a few questions for me.
Would I be right in assuming this is going to be very similar to project reality (except obviously ww2 based)? With firebases, kit distribution, damage etc.
Also is there a rough estimate of a release, (I know you cannot be specific) a year, two?
This mod was pretty much the exclusive reason I picked up warhead and wars. I'm a ww2 airsofter...well actually...more of a chairsofter that just loves the kit etc.
Cheers
[Extra note] So glad to hear mortars will be in this Excellent!
The mod will be going down similar lines to Project Reality although we will be making the maps smaller so combat is faster than in PRM.
As for firebases, kit distribution & damage - Firebases are a PRM concept but a feature with a similar effect on gameplay might be introduced at some stage although not in Chapter One. Damage will be realistic (like PRM) and there will be a limiting mechanism in place to ensure that kits are correctly proportioned and distributed.
Unfortunately we can't give an estimate for release other than "when it's done" - saying anything else would only raise expectations that we might not be able to meet. When we have a firm release date it will be announced.
We are working hard behind the scenes to make that as soon as possible but until then we're keeping quiet
We will strive for a realistic gaming experience which is also amusing, I never found PR entertaining me, except for all the new goodies. PR is suffering from a outdated and pesky engine, don't get me wrong or all, I know Trahn Lee and some other devs from their team and I think they are doing a great job but thats not how I see a realistic shooter.
I hope our game can be compared to a (in realistic aspect) light version of Resistance and Liberation.
I think Naga gave you all the answer mate; TW want to bring the best quality in what they do. Because of that, an "ETA" would be quiet hard to plan and expectations would rise, as Naga pointed out.
It pleases me that you got high-hopes for this mod, and I can assure you; Traction Wars-modteam won't let any of you down I reckon.
Just on a side note, I found (and this may have just been me) that the pace of PR led to it's realism. It makes people plan. I also found it added to the intensity when combat finally arrived. Of course this is just my opinion and I am sure many here find PR's pace too slow and I agree about the out of date engine (yet another reason why this looks as if it is shaping up to be a real gem) but you must admit it did enhance the realism and if this is what you are aiming for I think it is a great foundation.
Sorry about asking for an ETA I was just wondering about the project completion level.
I will be watching this space.
Thankyou and good luck
Edit: I'm probably biast as PR is the only milsim game/mod I've played (except OF2 but that was so poor it doesn't count ) I am sure this will improve upon PR even if that is in a different way, and I look forward to trying it.
I indeed find PR way too slow, I agree with you that once you get in action, it's intense but I'm always the first to get shot so that brings up quite some frustration after you spend 30 minutes walking for an objective just to get shot
We want to take all the good things from various mods and games and mix them to one big diamond. No arcade, no senseless walking, no overcomplicated stuff, etc. Note that that isn't aimed at PR just at general mods and games I play.
