Thread: [Release] - Niveus Castle Level

The highly anticipated level Niveus Castle by androkles* has finally been released! Below are screenshots from the pre-release preview as well as a fly-though video.

It should be noted that this level is released not as a finished map but rather as a proof of it's creation in Crysis and you should not expect a smooth and perfect ride.

Why would you create a level if not to play it?

The creators of this map should probably team up with the Exodus-mod-team, Exodus takes also place in an medieval setting.

It was created as a portfolio piece I believe and just to see what could be achieved. The reception it received with some WIP shots were posted was so warm that the author optimized it and released it as a playable level. I believe it was released to make it available to other modders to make SP levels out of it etc.. rather than for non-modders to play with. Everything is custom and I think the job of rigging it for AI etc.. was just making the project stretch out too long. Still I still think the quality of the work is amazing.

Exodus isn't medieval at all. It's based on a story of survival against a rapidly changing climate. It does have some medieval characteristics though in terms of weapons but not in architecture. I used to be a dev over there so I should know*

You might be getting confused with Medieval Conflicts which has at least one developer from Exodus working there (VertigoSFX).

Possible, indeed. Unfortunately I can't remember Medieval Conflicts, and the page you linked is down.

Possible, indeed. Unfortunately I can't remember Medieval Conflicts, and the page you linked is down.

Sorry I didn't actually check the link as I had it from memory. Here's their crymod thread.

D'you know if it's still in progress? Or Exodus?

Not sure about Medival Conflicts but last I heard Exodus was still going, they've just been a bit busy in real life.
