The Crysis Community have been begging for it since release; now Crytek is back with their 2.3GB update for Crysis 2, making it truly a piece of software ingenuity, pushing boundaries for what's said to become The Future.
I've been playing Crysis 2 again after this patch, and all I can say is "wow..."
This is truly a masterpiece when it comes to graphical features, and if you got your Crysis 2 then you must try it with the Ultra Upgrade patches!
My PC can run Crysis 1 on medium, possibly a little high settings mixed in. But it has to play Crysis wars on medium and low on a few minor things. Could my PC handle Crysis 2? I have been curious to ask if, despite the huge upgrade in graphics, it is more performance friendly or not?
Crysis 2 is more FPS-friendly actually. To a certain degree that is, but I'm unsure if you'll be able to run this Upgrade at the desired resolution and settings (aka Ultra).
What you could do though (if you got 1GB of Video RAM on your graphic card), is to download only the High-Resolution patch for Crysis 2, without downloading the Tesselation-patch (DirectX Ultra patch), and see how it goes.
I'm just really surprised how well my pair of 9800GTXs can handle the game, being originally DirectX 9 cards. With Battlefield 3 being slated only for Vista/Win7 and DirectX 11, I think the real question is can that deliver the same performance?
I should be getting Crysis 2 very soon, it shipped yesterday from the UK. I bought it on ebay for under 20CAD$. I cant wait to try it with the ultra upgrade.
Got it today. Downloaded the DX11 upgrade and the texture pack. But now I have to go out and buy a new DVD reader/burner that I can hook up via SATA cable because my new motherboard does not have the oldschool kind of connector anymore.
